Now you Can Generate Electricity with Your Feet
A new technology has emerged
that allows you to generate electricity with your footsteps. Yes, you heard it
right! A company based in the United Kingdom, called Pavegen, has developed
this innovative technology.
During the World Future Energy Conference in the United Arab
Emirates, Pavegen showcased this technology. Each tile created by the company
contains an electromagnetic generator underneath. When you step on the tile,
the generator moves, generating electricity.
The company claims that this energy can be
converted into electricity. Although the energy produced by the tiles is
relatively low, it can still be used to power streetlights and charge small
devices.
In
Washington, Pavegen’s tiles are being used to power LED lights, and they have
also been installed in various locations across the UK to provide electricity
to monitors and mobile phone charging stations.
According to Lawrence Kemball-Cook, the founder of the company,
the energy generated by walking on the tiles can be transferred to batteries or
devices. He also mentioned that these tiles have been installed in more than 37
countries and can even be used to power various games by capturing footstep
data.
Additionally, Pavegen is working on developing
hybrid tiles that combine solar energy with energy generated by footsteps. The
company aims to introduce these solar-hybrid tiles next year during the summer
season.
